Former Ola football player Tre McBride will spend next Saturday taking the next steps toward finding a home in the NFL.
McBride, a three-year starter at wideout for Football Championship Subdivision school William & Mary, got an official invite to the NFL Combine which will be held February 17-23 in Indianapolis, Ind., and will be where over 300 top college football players from virtually all collegiate football divisions will converge to impress scouts into giving them a shot at an NFL roster spot.
Back in July nfl.com listed McBride as one of its “14 for 14 Top small-school prospects” in an article previewing the potential draft class of 2015. McBride, who played for the Mustangs from 2007 to 2011 and was a four-year starter for William & Mary. He followed up his junior season, where he had 63 catches for 801 yards and five touchdowns and a 27.5 yards-per average on kickoff returns, with 64 snags for 809 yards and four TDs.
McBride is considered a speedster, consistently posting sub 4.4-second times in the 40-yard dash.
He was a three-sport standout at Ola, playing on the varsity basketball and track teams, in addition to football. He will work out with the other receivers in the combine on Saturday February 21. NFL.com, NFL Now and NFL Mobile will broadcast live coverage of the combine on that, and other days.
Are there any other Southern Crescent athletes we need to know about who are participating in this year’s NFL Combine?
