LOCUST GROVE, Ga. — Southern Crescent golf teams flexed their muscles Tuesday during the Region 4-AAAAA golf tournament at Heron Bay Golf Club.
For the girls, it was Union Grove making history by winning the Region 4-AAAA team title, and junior standout Hannah Gasaway continued her torrid pace this season by picking up the individual crown after shooting a 79.
On the boys’ side, it was McIntosh taking home top team honors with the Chiefs’ Conner Coffey shooting a 65 to capture the region’s top individual player trophy, and the Union Grove boys qualified for sectionals by finishing third. The Lady Chiefs’ golf squad also punched their ticket to the state tournament with a third place finish.
Union Grove’s Jake Maples also had a good outing, shooting a 72 at the region tournament. Sectionals begin Monday May 4.
Check back later this week for features on the Union Grove and McIntosh golf teams.
