FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — The Whitewater Wildcats have spent much of the 2015 season being considered the best Class AAAA team in Georgia, and their presence on the All-Region 5-AAAA team roster seem to validate that claim.

The Wildcats placed six players on the all-region first team, with Georgia Tech signee Jake Lee leading the way by being named Region 5-AAAA Pitcher of the Year. Closer Colby Taylor also was named to the first team as a pitcher, along with infielders Brandon Bell and Tyler Doanes, and outfielders Jabari Richards and J.D. Norred.

Sandy Creek first baseman Trevor Bolden was the only other Southern Crescent area player to make the first team.

Lee was dominant for Whitewater in his senior season, posting an 8-1 record with a .7 ERA, 65 strikeouts, three walks and a save in just 50 innings pitched. He joined Troup slugger and Auburn signee Jonathan Foster in Player of the Year Honors.

Three more Wildcats found their way to the second team also. They were pitcher Ethan Gillis, outfielder Avery Roth and designated hitter Miles Jones.

Whitewater (23-4, 14-1) will host a tough Pike County (21-4, 15-3) squad in a round two state tournament doubleheader today.

In all, 16 athletes from Fayette County schools made the first and second team rosters. Check out the 2015 All-Region 5-AAAA baseball team roster below in its entirety:
