COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Kindle Vildor started the football offseason with zero offers. He’s now sitting at 15.
The North Clayton defensive back has sky-rocketed onto the recruiting scene over the last few months, and now says he’s ready to close out his college recruitment process and make his college commitment choice — tomorrow afternoon.
First, Vildor spoke with thecrescentbuzz.com to give us a compare-and-contrast analysis of his top six schools. He even shed some light on who his favorites are in the midst of the final six.
Here’s Vildor’s top-six list, and what he likes about each school:
GEORGIA SOUTHERN: “It’s just a great place. I’ve been down there three times already. Each time they treated me with love and have expressed how much they want me to come to their school. They always congratulate me on everything I do. Georgia Southern’s got a rich, strong football tradition, and them going D-1 and having so much success in the Sun Belt (Conference) last year was a huge part of my interest. You’d love to go to a program established already and that has a winning environment. And the fact that came one point from beating North Carolina State and three points from beat Georgia Tech lets you know they can compete with anybody in the nation.”
TROY: “It’s pretty much like a young school, a young team. They’re in the same division with Georgia Southern, and they’ve shown me nothing but a lot of respect. They really have shown they want me and they need DBs bad. I’d have the opportunity to come in and play right away. They talk to me on Twitter every day. I haven’t gotten the chance to visit yet, but even after my commitment I may do a visit just to see.”
MIAMI (OHIO): “It’s just a beautiful school that they showed me. Everything there is beautiful. Plus, a couple of my friends committed there. Tay Gowan and DeAndre Huff (Newton High). I met them at the Cam Newton 7-on-7. They told me about it and they seem to love it, so I’m pretty sure it’s a good school. And one of my other friends Sabree Curtis has an offer there, and he said it’s his top school right now. Sabree Curtis, was at Jonesboro last year and now at Creekside so I know him pretty well.”
JACKSONVILLE STATE: “I actually have one of my trainers Fred Hill, his nephew Jermaine Hough (former Lovejoy standout and FCS Preseason All-American) goes there and plays there. Me and him have always been pretty cool and I’ve talked to him about being out there. Jacksonville is the first offer I got, and that means a lot because it means they were the first ones to believe in me about my ability to play at the next level. It means a lot to me to know that a team finally believes in me and my ability, and it showed me that my hard work was finally paying off. The school seems like a good fit.”
WYOMING: “It seems like a weird choice, but the way I look at it, it gives me a new chance to experience the world from a different point of view than what I’m used to. It’s somewhere out of my culture and comfort zone, and everything there seems to be pretty cool. They play pretty good conference against teams like Boise State getting things shaking.”
WESTERN KENTUCKY: “I’ve been hearing good things about that school, and I know they’re good on getting DBs and guys like that ready for the NFL. Last year they had a guy drafted in the third round. They just seem to have a good track record of getting their players right and getting ready for the next level, and getting them a good education.”
