VIDEO | JONESBORO AT SANDY CREEK: Twitter talk behind, time to play the game.

TYRONE, Ga. — Sunday you saw where some Sandy Creek and Jonesboro players gave us a cyber-preview of what looks to be some intense action on the football field in tonight’s 7:30 p.m. game between the two teams at Sandy Creek.

And while every football fan loves to see some good-natured trash talk in a game, by Wednesday and Thursday, both Sandy Creek and Jonesboro players were ready to move on from pre-game chit chat.

“You don’t win games talking on Twitter,” said Sandy Creek running back Jaelen Greene. “We’ll have Jonesboro here on the field Friday night for 48 minutes, and that’s how we’ll settle everything.”

Sophomore tailback Marvin Hubbard said Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker gave a very short and direct message to his players to end the mini beef.

“Get off Twitter,” Hubbard said with a chuckle. “He basically messaged everybody and said, ‘Get off Twitter.'”

Hubbard said he read the back-and-forth and was tempted to contribute his two-cents’ worth, but thought better of it.

“Because talking won’t do anything,” Hubbard said. “You just go out on the field and play. You don’t get scores by talking. You get scores by going out and scoring touchdowns.”

Check Saturday for a cool feature story on Sandy Creek’s three-head tailback monster of Hubbard, Greene and Drezyn Parson. We’ll also take a closer look at who Walker said could become one of the better tight ends the Creek has ever had.

Meanwhile, with just a couple of hours left in the game, check out some video of what two of Jonesboro’s best on defense, Kentucky commit Jordan Griffin and Campbell pledge Kali James, had to say after Thursday’s practice about tonight’s matchup.
