ATLANTA, Ga. — It’s a beautiful opening night for college football, though with the rain that moved through the area, such a forecast was at one point in doubt.
Skies We’re about 10
minutes away from kickoff for the No. 16 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ season opener against Alcorn State.
The Braves from Loman, Miss. come into this one as 42 point underdogs, which makes it seem like conventional wisdom that that this one will be more about how fast it gets out of hand and how long before we get the chance to look at the reserves.
But Alcorn State also comes in to Bobby Dodd with the heart of a champion, as it is the defending Southwestern Athletic Conference title holder.
If this one does become a blowout early, it’ll be interesting to see how many of the nine Southern Crescent athletes will hit the field tonight.
Here’s a list of the area athletes who are on the three-deep depth chart for tonight’s game:
No. 1 CB – #28 D.J. White (Union Grove)
No. 2 WR – #86 Antonio Messick (Fayette County)
No. 3 FS – #14 Corey Griffin (Sandy Creek)
No. 2 K/P – #80 Shawn Davis (Union Grove)
Other Southern Crescent area athletes on Tech’s full roster:
DB #36 Tyler Teknipp, Jr. (Eagle’s Landing)
