JONESBORO, Ga. — The No. 6 Jonesboro Cardinals find themselves in a hole they haven’t seen since Week 3 at Sandy Creek.
Andre Rountree snatched a fumbled Jonesboro punt and returned it 54 yards to the end zone. And then on Locust Grove’s next offensive possession senior quarterback Cameron Maddox scored from two yards out to cap a 13-play, 71 yard drive that gave Locust Grove a 14-0 halftime lead.
Jonesboro’s Montralius Mosley has found running room in the interior of Locust Grove’s defense, but a combination of turnovers and penalties has kept the Cardinals scoreless.
Jonesboro had a chance to put points on the board toward the end of the half, but Cardinals quarterback Zerrick Cooper missed wide open receivers twice in the red zone, and ended the first half by being sacked.
The Cardinals won the toss and elected to defer so they’ll receive the ball to start the second half.
