According to the 12thman.com, former Eagle’s Landing High cross country standout and track and field state champion Devin Dixon was selected as the men’s SEC Freshman of the Week.

Dixon, a freshman at Texas A&M, posted a career best time of 1:48.76 in the 800 meters — an event Dixon won multiple state championships in while at Eagle’s Landing —  during the Charlie Thomas Invitational hosted by the Aggies. That time pushed him to the No. 7 spot on Texas A&M’s all-time list of best times.

Besides his A&M distinction, Dixon has posted the third fastest time in the nation among all freshmen, and also helped the Aggies’ 4×400 relay team break the collegiate record by clocking a time of 3:02.52.

Dixon’s storied career at Eagle’s Landing included four total state championships — three in the 800m and one in the 400m. He has recorded the fastest 800m time in Georgia High School history.
