A pair of Fayette County players swept the All-Region 4-AAAAA’s top honors, while a Henry County coach was recognized as the region’s best.

McIntosh’s Duke Kinamon grabbed player of the year honors in Region 4-AAAAA while Starr’s Mill pitcher Adam Goodman took home the top pitcher award.

Both players led their teams to standout seasons before being cut short before having a chance to make a deep run in the Class AAAAA playoffs. Goodman compiled a 7-1 record with two saves in 2015 as the Panthers’ ace pitcher. He tossed 71 strikeouts and allowed just two walks with a .72 ERA in 48 1/3 innings pitched.

As for Kinamon, the senior shortstop paced the Chiefs with his .507 batting average and .625 on-base percentage. He drove in 37 RBIs and swiped 28 bases.

Meanwhile, Ola coach Beau Edwards was tabbed as the region’s coach of the year. Edwards guided the Mustangs to a 23-6 record with a 9-3 mark in the competitive region. It was one of Ola’s best seasons in program history, and a tremendous turn around from the 15-11 record from the 2014 campaign.

Region 4-AAAAA runner up Union Grove placed the most on the all-region squad roster with six players, including Georgia-bound pitcher Shane Tucker and Middle Tennessee State signee A.J. Spencer.

Ola and Starr’s Mill both had five players apiece on the list, while Mundy’s Mill placed outfielder Ricky Butts and infielder Jordan Robinson on the team.

Luella slugger Bryant Harris was the only Lion to make the squad. Harris is a Tennessee signee, but is one of a handful of Southern Crescent players who has a shot at being selected in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
